Benefits
Rapid onset of anesthetic action
Effective and reliable pain control during procedures
Suitable for various anesthesia techniques
BP-compliant quality assurance
Widely accepted in surgical and dental practice
Usage Instructions
Administered by qualified healthcare professionals only
Dosage and route depend on procedure type, patient condition, and clinical judgment
Careful aspiration before injection is recommended to avoid intravascular administration
Monitor patient during and after administration
Mechanism of Action
Lidocaine works by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in neuronal cell membranes. This prevents the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, resulting in temporary loss of sensation in the targeted area.
Indications
Lidocaine Injection BP 20 mg/ml is indicated for:
Local anesthesia in minor surgical and dental procedures
Infiltration anesthesia
Peripheral nerve block anesthesia
Epidural and regional anesthesia (as per clinical protocol)
Management of certain ventricular arrhythmias (as advised by a healthcare professional)
Side Effects
Possible side effects may include:
Mild injection site reactions
Dizziness or drowsiness
Hypotension
Bradycardia
Allergic reactions (rare)
High doses may lead to CNS or cardiovascular toxicity
Precautions
Use cautiously in patients with cardiac, hepatic, or renal impairment
Monitor cardiovascular and respiratory status during use
Avoid exceeding recommended dosage limits
Use special caution in elderly and debilitated patients
Resuscitation equipment should be readily available during administration
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or other amide-type local anesthetics
Severe heart block without pacemaker support
Cardiogenic shock
Severe hypotension
Infection at the proposed injection site
