Mechanism of Action
Metoclopramide blocks dopamine D2 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ), preventing nausea and vomiting. It also enhances acetylcholine release in the gastrointestinal tract, improving gastric emptying and intestinal motility.
Indications
Metoclopramide Injection BP 10mg/2mL is indicated for:
Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting
Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV)
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV)
Drug-induced vomiting
Diabetic gastroparesis
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) requiring parenteral therapy
Side Effects
